Former Australian captain Mark Taylor has raised questions about Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj’s premature wicket celebrations. The 60-year-old remarked that Siraj often starts celebrating before the umpire’s decision is announced, which, according to Taylor, is not a good look. He suggested that senior members of the Indian team should talk to Siraj about his conduct.

Taylor told Nine News:
“When Siraj thinks he has dismissed a batter, he runs towards his teammates to celebrate without waiting for the umpire’s decision. This behavior isn’t good for him or the game’s spirit. I love his passion, competitive nature, and the fact that we are witnessing a fantastic series, but respecting the game is equally important. A discussion with senior teammates might help him understand this better.”
ICC Fines Siraj for Aggressive Celebration
Siraj was fined 20% of his match fee by the ICC for his aggressive celebration against Travis Head during the Adelaide Test. The incident added fuel to the ongoing debate about Siraj’s on-field behavior.
Simon Katich Weighs In
Former Australian batter Simon Katich also commented on Siraj’s behavior during a segment on SEN Radio. Katich remarked:
“Siraj’s mind didn’t work in that moment, and I believe he later regretted it. There’s no place for such behavior in the game.”
The Siraj-Head Incident
Siraj’s behavior came into the spotlight after a heated exchange with Travis Head during the Adelaide Test. On the second day of the pink-ball Test, Head hit Siraj for a six and was bowled on the very next ball.
Following his dismissal for 140 runs, Head exchanged words with Siraj, prompting the Indian bowler to gesture towards the dugout. Post-match, Head clarified that he had complimented Siraj by saying “well bowled”. However, Siraj disputed this, claiming Head was lying.
The exchange became one of the highlights of the match and drew widespread attention.
